Cooking a dish for an Easter potluck can be stressful enough — the last thing you need is for all that hard work to end up spilled in the back of your car. Here are some tips for transporting Easter dinner in your Chevy.

Ham

After your Easter ham has finished cooking, ladle out any excess juices and reserve them. Then, tent the ham with aluminum foil and wrap its baking dish with kitchen towels to absorb any leaks — and shield you from its fresh-out-of-the-oven heat. To keep the dish stabilized while you drive, consider placing it in a clean laundry basket.

Hot Casseroles

If you don’t have an insulated casserole carrier, towels can work just as well for insulating the food, protecting your cookware, and preventing messy spills.

Crock-Pots

Crock-pots can be tricky to transport — you just need to find a way to secure them. After wrapping your crock-pot in towels, you can place it on the floor in the back seat of your Chevy, wedged between the front seats and the second-row seats. You may also want to consider investing in a locking lid for your crock-pot.

Cold Food

Cold food is the easiest to transport — all you need is a covered container. If the item requires refrigeration, consider packing it in a cooler. Instead of putting the item on top of the ice, make sure the ice covers the container on all sides.
