Rumor Confirmed That the Next Silverado Will Get the GMC MultiPro Tailgate
This past May, some interesting spy shots surfaced online of what appears to be the 2020 Chevy Silverado HD with the GMC MultiPro™ tailgate. The MultiPro tailgate debuted on the 2019 GMC Sierra, which was all-new for the model year.
After some investigation, experts confirmed the new Silverado HD – and likely the Silverado 1500 – will receive the MultiPro tailgate soon.
The MultiPro tailgate is the world’s first six-function tailgate, giving truck drivers an unparalleled amount of functionality. In essence, the MultiPro tailgate is two gates in one: It includes a primary gate that functions the same way as a normal tailgate, and an inner gate that folds within the primary gate. This configuration allows the tailgate to take on an increased number of roles, such as acting as a load stop, bed extender, or entry step.
With both the primary gate and inner gate released, the tailgate provides a 48-inch step that is rated at 375 pounds, giving you easy, step-up access to the truck bed. You can also, for example, create a two-tier cargo system, wherein the inner gate functions as the gate for the top tier of cargo.
With such benefits, we at Graff Chevrolet in Grand Prairie, TX couldn’t be more excited that the MultiPro tailgate is coming to the Silverado.
