Assemble a Winter Emergency Kit
Winter is just around the corner and it is a good idea to put together a winter emergency kit for those unforeseen emergencies. You can buy kits already assembled, but you probably have most of what you need on hand.
Flat Tires
Getting a flat is annoying but winter weather can turn it into a dangerous situation if you aren’t prepared. Add a can of aerosol flat fixer to your kit along with an air compressor. If you have road service, keep the number handy and add a pen and note pad to your kit to jot down emergency numbers.
Road Assistance
In case of accidents or other car troubles, it’s a good idea to add an assortment of tools to your emergency kit, such as wrenches and screw drivers along with a flashlight, jumper cables, a tow strap and a fire extinguisher. A bag of cat litter, sand or spill absorbent can help you out of icy situations.
Stay Warm and Dry
Pack an extra pair of gloves and a hat just in case, and a blanket is a good addition to an emergency kit. You might be stuck in the vehicle for several hours, so a phone charger, some water and some non-perishable snacks, like energy bars are a good addition, too. It’s always a good idea to have a first aid kit along, too.
Make sure your car is ready for all conditions by scheduling a maintenance check at Graff Chevrolet.
