Under the hood of the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD

When you purchase the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD, you will get your choice of two engine options. The first is a gasoline-powered 6.6-liter V8 that rips out 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque which now pairs with a ten-speed Allision transmission. This change in the transmission ups the model’s gross weight from 24,000 to 26,000 pounds, allowing for more towing and hauling capabilities. If you are more serious about towing, you will want to go with the new Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel, which will generate around 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque which you can get with a Max Trailering package that will allow you to tow as much as 22,500 pounds. The 2024 Silverado HD has a payload capacity of 3,759 pounds.

Inside the 2024 Silverado HD

While an advanced exterior and powerful engines are all well and good, what is sure to excite people is what’s inside the 2024 Silverado HD’s cabin! For most models of the Silverado HD, you will be looking at a high-tech interior as the smaller 8-inch touchscreen, and the oriented center stack are replaced by a 13.4-inch touchscreen which comes with a high-resolution display. This system is straightforward to use compared to other class touchscreens. You can also get other enhancements, such as rear air vents and climate controls, a redesigned center console, a wireless charging pad, and new materials, such as a real wood trim on higher trim levels. If you are looking for a vehicle with many safety features, the 2024 Silverado HD has you covered with adaptive cruise control that also works with towing, which is undoubtedly a bonus. In addition, the Transplant Trailer feature, which uses a variety of camera systems to generate an image on a touchscreen and gives you the illusion of seeing through the trailer, now will work with the fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer. While you tow, a blind-spot warning system accounts for the trailer, and a new sensor system will alert you to the Silverado’s GCWR.

Trim Levels of the Silverado HD

The trim levels of the 2024 Silverado HD will largely remain the same as in years past with the Work Truck, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country, but there will be a few new additions. The High Country trim is now available with a Midnight Package which is also optional for the LT and LTZ trims. As we move further in the model year, the off-road-capable ZR2 is set to join the lineup. It comes with upgraded dampers, all-terrain tires, and driver-selectable front and rear locking differentials, all of which will assist you as you venture off the beaten path!
